A multiple award-winning former journalist, Jose Raymond is the Founder and Chief Activist Officer of SPIN. The company was incorporated in September 2016 in Singapore and January 2017 in Malaysia.


Prior to setting up SPIN, Jose was the Vice-President of Corporate Affairs of global pulp and paper giant Asia Pulp and Paper.


Before Asia Pulp and Paper, Jose was the Senior Director of Communications and Stakeholder Management at the Singapore Sports Hub. His previous appointments include helming the Singapore Environment Council as its Chief Executive Officer from September 2011 to December 2014. He has also served as a Press Secretary to Dr Vivian Balakrishnan at the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources.


Prior to his appointment at the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, he was at Sport Singapore as its Deputy Director of Media Relations and Social Media. During his time there, he was also appointed the Head of Communications and IT of the 1st Asian Youth Games Singapore 2009. He was credited for strategising, formulating and executing a complete media and broadcast strategy for the inaugural Games. Other roles he undertook while at Sport Singapore was Press Secretary to Games Village Mayor Teo Ser Luck during the 2010 Youth Olympic Games, and was Singapore’s Head of Media Relations and Media Attache to Singapore National Olympic Council President Teo Chee Hean at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi and the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China.

Prior to the civil service, Jose was a senior correspondent at the Straits Times and Mediacorp. He was Mediacorp’s Journalist of the Year in 2006 and also won the TODAY Story of the Year in 2007. In 2005, he picked up the S-League’s Story of the Year award.


Jose is also currently a Vice-President (Partnerships) of Flash Athletics Club, one of Singapore's most prominent track and field clubs. He also served as Vice-President (Partnerships) at the Singapore Swimming Association (June 2014 - June 2018). He is also a Founding Vice-Chairman of the Chiam See Tong Sports Fund, and is currently a Director of the Board.


Jose has also served on the Northeast Community Development Council from 2011 to 2014 as its Chairman of the Environment Committee and was a grassroots volunteer in Cashew division from 2012 to 2016.
